Diane gave you some excellent advice, to which I will add what I tell students that shadow me and say they want to be a Labor RN or midwife because they love babies: I tell them they must love the mother, because it is she that you provide care to. If you love babies, consider being a Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse (NICU Nurse) or in your case, with medicine being your objective, a "Neonatologist".
